Hi, I’m Jen
A therapist in Liverpool, NY who gets it.
I’m passionate about helping women who struggle with anxiety because I get it. I’ve been there myself.
I’m an elder millennial, married, and child-free. I LOVE to laugh. I’m an introvert at heart and enjoy deep one-on-one conversations. I’m addicted to peppermint mocha iced coffee year-round. I have more Bath and Body Works candles than I’d like to admit, and my guilty pleasure is a good Netflix murder mystery documentary!
Having struggled with anxiety for many years, I understand firsthand how debilitating it can be. I also understand the feelings of loneliness and frustration when other people just don’t get it (you know, when their advice is to “just relax” or “just don’t think about it”. Um yeah..super helpful). If you’ve ever struggled with anxiety, you know what I mean.
One of the hardest things about dealing with mental health issues is feeling alone with your experience. Please know – you are not alone! By fusing my education and training as a therapist with my personal experiences, I feel I have a unique understanding and perspective to offer.
My Specialties and Areas of Interest
You take care of everyone else. It’s time to start taking care of you.
I choose to focus on working with women in their mid 20’s to mid 40’s because I’m passionate about supporting women in this particular season of life. Women are commonly caretakers for everyone else in their lives, but all too often forget to take care of themselves. I want to help change that narrative.
I hope my practice can be a place where women in this season of life can feel validated, supported, and understood.
My main areas of clinical interest are working with women who are struggling with high functioning anxiety and navigating adjustment-related issues/life transitions. I have a special interest in helping women ditch people-pleasing behaviors and self-doubt, set healthy boundaries, communicate more assertively, and live more authentic and peaceful lives!
Experience and Education
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York State. I have over 18 years post-graduate experience counseling children, teens, and adults in individual, couple, and family therapy. Over the years I’ve been employed in numerous community mental health settings before transitioning into private practice. I now work exclusively in private practice with adults.
I earned my Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from the State University of New York at Oswego in 2008. Prior to that, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from LeMoyne College in 2006, majoring in Psychology. I’ve received training in many different counseling modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to treat a wide range of mental health issues.
